As I mentioned before, I’m curating an exhibition of eight Philadelphia-based artists who utilize printmaking techniques and self-printed materials, generally thought of as mediums of multiple, and incorporate them into one-of-a-kind works.
Doubting Thomases opens September 10th at Nudashank Gallery in Baltimore, Maryland and will feature works by Micah Danges, Chris Kline, Matt Leines, Isaac Tin Wei Lin, Bill McRight, Dan Murphy, Andrew Jeffrey Wright and myself.

More details to come. It’s going to be exciting.

From Megawords, one of our favorite publications:
“A solo exhibition created by Megawords magazine opens Friday, March 5th at Printed Matter in New York City. The show will offer an introduction to the entire project, including displays of all past issues, photos and work by Megawords and Megawords contributors, and other related ephemera and inspiration. In addition, a light and sound installation will be on view for the show’s opening.”

British ‘zine Raspberry is pretty much the best publication I have seen in a long, long time. Focusing on idiosyncratic on-the-street painting, from civilian graffiti to weird murals to bizarre signage, this book is beautifully on-point. Issue #3 is full color, in an edition of 50, with photographs from Dan Murphy, Stefan Fitzgerald, The ERS, Jack Bechtler and myself. I think you can grab a copy from Chapter One in London, other than that, good luck, it’s worth the hunt.
EDIT: It looks like aNYthing has copies. 51 Hester Street.

Megawords #12 release party this Thursday, January 14th, 2010 at Fleisher/Ollman. 6:30 – 9:00pm. Short films by Adams and Itso from Denmark, and Mattias Wermke and Mischa Leinkauf from Berlin will be shown.

I got these two one sheet zines from Dan Murphy a while back. Each is 11 x 17, double sided, folded in quarters. Super good.
More after the break.

Dan Murphy generously hooked us up with the new issue of Stuck On The Map. This volume is super thick with various colored paper stocks and the cover is, get this, xerox over four colored stickers stuck on a white glossy cover stock. So good. Dan has been an inspiration for a long time, and I’m so happy to live in Philadelphia because otherwise I would have no idea how to get his zines. (UPDATE: Dan has copies for sale HERE.) And just like the Stuck On The Map book, the more I leaf through this, the more I see.
