Printin’ at PAFA

I’ve been organizing a live screen printing event Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Museum for tomorrow night. I think everyone is pretty tired of live T-shirt printing (at least I am), so for this event I tried to take a cue from the old exquisite corpse drawing game. Visitors to the first PAFA After Dark event will be able to assemble and then take home a custom 4 color silkscreen – printed on the spot by members of SPACE 1026. Images for the event were drawn by Bonnie Brenda Scott, Matt Leines, Bill McRight, Anni Altshuler, Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Chris Kline, Leah Mackin, Ben Woodward, Isaac Tin Wei Lin and myself.

As I mentioned before, I’m curating an exhibition of eight Philadelphia-based artists who utilize printmaking techniques and self-printed materials, generally thought of as mediums of multiple, and incorporate them into one-of-a-kind works.

Doubting Thomases opens September 10th at Nudashank Gallery in Baltimore, Maryland and will feature works by Micah Danges, Chris Kline, Matt Leines, Isaac Tin Wei Lin, Bill McRight, Dan Murphy, Andrew Jeffrey Wright and myself.

24 Hour Horror Film Fest.

A_Lukas_all_the_colors_600
So this Saturday / Sunday Exhumed Films is showing 24 straight hours of horror movies at the I-House in West Philadelphia. In conjunction with this noon to noon event, Justin Miller organized an print show for the lobby “based on the imagery and themes of the films shown in grindhouse theatres from the ’60s to ’80s”. My contribution is above and will be on sale during the show along with new prints by Chris Kline, Bill McRight, Mark Price, Greg Pizzoli and many more.
