HOLY SHMOLY #3

holy
Mark Price has been working since January to publish a zine a month for the year of 2009. June features the third volume of Jason Hsu’s Holy Shmoly. It is 36 screen printed pages with full color center spread. You can either buy the zine individually or subscribe for the full year HERE. Well worth it.

THE HIGHLINE

I had a chance to visit the Highline this past weekend for the first time in its new state. I had previously visited the Highline a bunch of times back before the transition to a public park began. I’ll admit to being very, very skeptical of this project when I first heard about it; for me, part of the beauty of the Highline lay in the fact that in many ways it already functioned as a park. Sure, it was fenced off, but there was no lack of traffic or activity up there (in the top image you can see a worn walking trail). Continue reading ‘THE HIGHLINE’

Film and Fosik

aj_ff_02
I have been on a big (and somewhat expensive) film kick recently. A few weeks ago I did a studio visit with my old buddy AJ Fosik for Fecal Face. It seemed appropriate to shoot film; something about what he does seems decidedly “analog”, and I like that, so I dug out the old 35mm SLR. The quality of a film photo is hard to replicate with digital; it is almost too perfect. And I still love the anticipation of picking up a roll of film from the photo spot. I’ll post a link to the full feature once they put it up. You can read the interview and see the photos here.

LOVE SOUR LOVE

The collective Faile is about to release their fourth color (green)-themed (love) book through Paper Monster Press. This thing has been years in the making. All the contributing artists were asked to produce their own pages by hand, which were bound by hand into an edition of 80 books.
